Established in 2014 with a grant of $25 million and an additional $70 million in participant funding over five years, the Data to Decisions CRC was part of the Cooperative Research Centres Programme.
D2D CRC brought together researchers and industry to tackle the big data challenges that face Australia’s national security community.
As well as operating as a leading provider of big data capability for a safer and more secure nation, D2D CRC’s focus was on developing a sustainable big data workforce for Australia.
Brenton was the CTO of D2D CRC and is now the CEO of D2D CRC spinout company, Fivecast. He brought significant expertise in the application of leading edge R&D in the fields of defence, national security and telecommunications
Niall was the COO of D2D CRC. He brought experience in the Defence, National Security, Government and Academic Sectors as a senior business manager. He is a strong believer that successful organisations must focus their resources on activities that deliver against the voice/needs of the customer.
Tim was the Chairman and a founding Board Member. He brought a wealth of experience to the D2D CRC Board from over 30 years building and leading operational capabilities in government and industry, playing lead roles in developing operational responses to national and international intelligence and security challenges.
Fatima was a founding Board Member of D2D CRC. She brought a wealth of experience to the D2D CRC Board from her roles as Deputy Director General of IP Australia, the Australian General Compliance Manager for Agricultural and Veterinary Chemicals and from working in both the public and private industry as an engineer.
Cath was a founding Board Member of D2D CRC. She brought a wealth of experience to the D2D CRC Board in the delivery of professional services to the Public Sector, policy drivers, inter-agency relations and collaboration from her role as KPMG Chairman of Partners in Canberra.
Kathryn was a founding Board Member of D2D CRC. She brought a wealth of experience to the D2D CRC Board in intellectual property management and commercial application of R&D from the perspective of a researcher, Director of a research institute and an investor.
Stephen has been a member of the D2D CRC Board since 2015. He brought a wealth of experience to the D2D CRC Board from over 40 years in public service, including holding senior roles in the Australian Intelligence Community and acting as Secretary of Department of Defence on numerous occasions.
Andrew was a member of the D2D CRC Board since 2015. He brought a wealth of experience to the D2D CRC Board in the commercialisation of technology products, creating new businesses, capital raising, mergers and acquisitions from his work with startup founders and early stage investors.
Hugh was a founding Board Member of D2D CRC before stepping down to take up the position of Chief Scientific Advisor to the UK Ministry of Defence. He brought a wealth of experience to theD2D CRC Board from his career in academia and pioneering engineering research.
Suzanne was a founding Board Member of D2D CRC before stepping down in 2015. She brought a wealth of experience in the Australian IT industry and was the CEO of the AIIA.
